Swiss support for Kazakh OSCE candidacy

ASTANA. Nov 15th - Switzerland has confirmed once more that it supports Kazakhstan's candidacy for the OSCE chairmanship in 2009, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reports.

Special attention was paid to the forthcoming Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship at consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Tuesday in Bern. Rakhat Aliyev, First Vice Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, headed the Kazakhstani delegation.

At the talks the Swiss side expressed a wish that a unity is achieved between the member states with regard to the forthcoming Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship.

Positive results of democratic reforms in Kazakhstan, creation of democratic institutions, maintenance of interethnic and religious tolerance were noted at the talks.
