OSCE Assembly supports Kazakh BID to chair OSCE
ASTANA, 30 November - The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly supports Kazakhstan's bid for chairmanship in 2009. Goran Lennmarker, OSCE PA President, made such statement November 14 speaking in the OSCE headquarters in Vienna.
"Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE will become an element of involving Central Asia into the OSCE activities, particularly in such areas as settlement of conflicts, human rights, combating the traffic in human beings and narcotic drugs," - he stressed.
More than three hundred MPs from 56 OSCE member states make up part of the Parliamentary Assembly,
